The What Was There App is one of the coolest photo location apps I have ever seen. It allows everyone in the USA including historic library’s which store pictures collecting dust to upload them into their app. They use a Google Map location API and then made it extra friendly. First you find your location in the USA or world and then once you have found it there should be a column list that shows up on the left. That column should have a  list of photographs from various years in history with a number nearby. This range of photo history can be anywhere from the 1800s to a year  ago. You then click the photo and it will give you two options to choose from “View Photo Details” or “Google Street View”.

If you push “View Photo Details” you  will get a list of Photo Details to the left like DATE TAKEN -TITLE – DESCRIPTION -USER -SOURCE and COPYRIGHT. You can also roll over the photo to get a closer look.

If you push “Google Street View” you will have that EXACT HISTORIC PHOTO put in place EXACTLY where it was taken in REAL LIFE NOW. You can fade the photo in and out making it look historic and real now. This is the best feature!
