Wow this has been an amazing CES, and if anyone needs proof just look at the list of things you can vote for! I really liked the wifi-enabled cameras and the 3D printers, and LG’s OLED TV was amazing, but the one innovation that I think will actually change the game for me is the Hopper by Dish. I had a chance to kind of preview the Hopper before it dropped at CES as I work at DISH, but even then we didn’t have any idea of the full range of features this thing would have. I love the little stuff, like the Remote Finder and TruVolume and of course, the massive 250 hours of HD recording space is just awesome, but what I’m really looking forward to is the PrimeTime Anytime feature. My wife and I are always arguing about what to record, and what gets skipped…I love sitcoms like Community and 30 Rock, she loves Law and Order and a bunch of the forensic crime procedurals, so there is something, every week, that gets skipped. Not any more though, it seems the days of DVR timer conflicts are at an end…recording a three hour block of shows on the four big Networks and saving them for eight days at a time? Yeah, that’s do just fine. Can’t wait.
